Merfolk are marine-dwelling, amphibious humanoids. They have webbing between their fingers and toes and spend 90% of their lives underwater. Merfolk are like the sea - deep, mysterious and ever-changing. They live along the coasts of oceans and seas, and will occasionally venture onto land - for it is rumoured that merfolk once used to be humans. Usually, they make a living by herding fish, but during times of need have been known to attack other sea-peoples, ocean-going vessels or even inland settlements. Merfolk are highly intelligent, but they possess no great physical strength, since they are generally accustomed to having a portion of their weight supported by the water.
